A Lar in Bronze (from the early 1st century)
Lares (singular Lar) are guardian deitis of agriculture, livestock, towns, cities, the state and its military. Each place would be under the protection of a Lar.

Each Cohort in Camp Jupiter has a guardian Lar which looks after it.
- In charge of the First Cohort: Julius.
- In charge of the Second Cohort: Aurelius.
- In charge of the Third Cohort: Septimus.
- In charge of the Fourth Cohort: Faustus.
- In charge of the Fifth Cohort: Flavius.
